Why Must Parts of Speech

Parts of speech, which are poorly understood by most of foreign students, are the basic things should be mastered first before other materials in mastering grammar. And mastering these parts of speech means not only memorizing vocabulary, but also relating them to their grammatical function in a sentence. Therefore, it’s not been enough knowing/memorizing the vocabulary, but more than it foreign students should be able to master how to use each of the words correctly. Grammarians can’t deny that the union of these parts of speech is much like the foundation of a home, where it’s constructed from some materials, like bricks, cement, chalk, sand, and iron to ground the home. However, something that marks them extremely important is that it can judge the power of the home. The higher the quality of the parts of the foundation of the home, the stronger the home stands, but contrarily the lower the quality of the home’s foundation, the more fragile the construction of the home. And so do this parts of speech, they also can judge the quality of the students’ grammar skill. It means that the more the students master these parts of speech and relate them into their correct grammatical functions and rules, the more the quality of their grammar skill. It is the conclusion.
It commonly happens in everywhere that foreign students create jumble sentence when they want to express what they feel and think. When they want to say that they are happy, for example, they sometime say,” I happy. ” Grammatically, it’s wrong because the verb “am” is omitted, but unfortunately they expect that it’s been correct. They think that it’s been enough saying “I” as the speaker and “happy” as their intension, by ignoring grammatical rules. It is the simplest reason why most foreign students can’t make communication without any physical gestures, pointing at something or some where with their fingers, or even just raising their eyelash. They averagely ignore the grammatical construction, and the parts of speech and their rules.
However, what has been told above is just the simplest part of examples from the whole foreign students on the world. As an easy consideration, we may can‘t leave hearing the jumble sentence that our friends or colleague make everyday in the class, canteen, office, library, or else.
As the conclusion of this composition, the writer just want to remind you, as the foreign students, to beware that mastering parts of speech, including the vocabulary, rules and functions, has to be the first step that you have to pass through to master English more widely, otherwise you would always have difficulty to create a good sentence or communication, interaction between two people which contains giving and accepting information.
