Why are Students Incapable of Writing?

Writing which is expected as the duty of the students has not been considered as the need for the students their selves. There are still a lot of students who don’t know the knowledge about how to write. It doesn’t happen to the students of the lower level school only, such Junior High School or Senior High School, but even it also happen to the students of university. On the way the writer analyzes his environment, he finds most of his objects cannot write well. They have any idea, but at the same time, they have difficulty to perform the idea on the form of writing. They get to be stiff when they want to pour their idea on the paper they have. It then makes them unwilling to write any composition. Even he also finds lots of students have no ideas to begin to write.
At least, there are some reasons about why they are unwilling to write. First of all, and it may be the main reason is that they still don’t have motivation in writing. As the writer knows that motivation is the base of one’s success in getting everything is the fact. Motivation will escort the students to always greedy in looking for the way of how they want to get. Therefore, motivation in writing means that it will always support the students to seek for the knowledge of how to write. However, the students still haven’t conveyed the clue of the appearance of the motivation itself.
Secondly, students still don’t know about a complete sentence of the language although they have been speaking since along time of their language. The writer still finds most of students still incapable of making a complete sentence even though they have been at the university. They still often separate a dependent clause as if it’s a complete sentence, such when they write “I went to the market. As he comes.” Grammatically, the clauses are wrong for the second clause is not independent clause, but dependent, although the first is independent clause. The clauses should be “I went to the market as he came” because the second clause is the dependent clause which is used to explain the first clause. They are also still incapable of identifying subject, verb(predicate), conjunction, transition, object, and so on so that they still often make a sentence like “Ana cook. And mother frying. And I happy”. The sentences are too many conjunction “and”; and still wrong in grammatically, such omitting “s” of the verb of the first and second sentences then also omitting the “be” of the third sentence. Students, in this case, are still unable to create a complete sentence which affects their willingness in writing which also needs direct treatment in order to be solved suddenly.
The third, they are very poor of the knowledge of writing method. As other knowledge, writing also has its method in order to enable the author in writing. The method is that about how the students can write easily after running the method as on the way they write. Method consists of some steps that the author should follow. The steps are deciding the main idea of what the author will writes; breaking the main idea into some ideas, which are considered as the aspects of the main idea, into an out line that is intended by the author; breaking again each of the ideas into some sub-ideas to make the out line more perfect; until deciding what paragraph and genre the author intends to develop the out line which has been formed. However, the students still don’t master about those all.
Next, they are still too lazy to enforce their brain to be creative in getting information from books, teachers, friends, or internet, which is actually can add up the life philosophy of the writer that at the end it can enable the author in getting ideas. They have books, but they are lazy to read them for they don’t want to insist their brain to think that can make their brain stress. They have teachers, yet they don’t want to ask for they are afraid of asking to them. They have friends, yet they are unwilling in holding discussion because they still don’t have self-confidence. They have known about internet and can access everything in it easily, but they just use to have fun only. Consequently, they can’t appear any idea in their brain for they are still poor of getting idea.
Finally, as the writer tell above, that there are still too many students who incapable of writing, from Junior High School until university. Some reasons that the writer proposes to answer about why the students are unable to write are lacking of motivation, lacking of knowledge about a complete sentence of the language, lacking of knowledge about the method of writing, and they still feel afraid of enforcing their brain in getting information from some sources such books, teachers, friends and others that actually very important in the process of writing to create any extraordinary ideas. Therefore, in this composition, the writer just wants to invite you all (the reader) to beware about this problem and then looks for the answer together. Isn’t it what will make students capable of writing composition?
